Model Club, ESU, WUYC extend unbeaten runs

Imphal, November 12 2018: Model Club, Chingamakha; WUYC, Wangkhei Angom Leikai and ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound extended their winning runs at the 22nd Senior State Basketball Championship which is underway since November 11 at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court under the aegis of Manipur Basketball Association.

Ideal Club, Sagolband Tera which went down to Model Club yesterday, bounced back with a huge 47-14 win over Youth Club, Uripok today.

In the first Group A league match of the day, Model Club beat YPHU, Lalambung Makhong 54-46 to secure their second win at the tournament.

Ch Victor continued to produce stellar performance and managed the highest of 19 points for Model Club while his compatriot I Surchandra added 16 points.

I Daniel and H Radheshyam contributed 13 and 6 points each to Model Clubs tally and ensured its victory.

Ch Tutu made the highest 16 scores for YPHU while K Kemlin was the second best today scoring 13 points.

M Vicky (6 pts), L Ozzy (5 pts), Th Arvind (2 pts) and Emmanuel Hmar ( 4 pts) also scored for YPHU.

In the Group B league tie, WUYC notched up a huge 69-27 win over YOSC, Khurai Konsam Leikai to continue their winning run at the championship.

The first quarter witnessed WUYC and YOSC play neck to neck but the latter part of the game seemed to be very easy for the Wangkhei side as they managed to score at will.

Shankar and Marken Dev combined well to score 21 and 20 points each while Viking added 8 points to take the score well ahead of the Khurai side.

David (2 pts), Dilip Kumar (4 pts), Rajen (3 pts), Winner (4 pts), Agu (3 pts) and Premanand (4 pts) also scored for WUYC today.

YOSC's total 27 points were gathered by Joychand (2 pts), Meiraba (3 pts), Naocha (11 pts), Thanganba (7 pts), Dinesh (1 pts) and Richard (2 pts).

In the second Group A league clash, Ideal Club rode on Pratap (11 pts) and N Romen (12 pts) to clinch a landslide 47-14 win over Youth Club.

Ksh Tinku (6 pts), RK Anjan (7 pts), Dayananda (8 pts) and N Peter (3 pts) also made their names on the scoresheet today for Ideal Club.

Viveka, Tamchui and Bipin scored 4 points each for Youth Club while Mr Youth had 2 points in his name.

In the last Group B league match of the day, ESU edged over St Anthony Sport Club by 68-61 margin.

ESU got off to a flying start as they managed a 17-9 lead in the first quarter but St Anthony Sports Club got their pace in the latter portion before going down by 61-68 margin.

Casper of ESU was the highest scorer of the match with a total 20 points in his name while L Boi (13 pts), Mayarngam (12 pts), Rajiv (14 pts) and Rabi (9 pts) made notable contributions for ESU to make it 68 points.

John Pao (18 pts), Mangalsana (13 pts) and Shashi (15 pts) tried hard to lift St Anthony SC but failed to breach the point gap today.

Victor (2 pts), Tarun (4 pts), Christopher (2 pts) and Marshal (3 pts) also scored for St Anthony SC today.
