33rd State Polo Tournament 2017 : X Polo, MPSC-B, Samadon sail into quarter-finals

Imphal, November 11 2017: X Polo Club, Manipur Police Sports Club-B and Samadon Ayangba Polo Team beat their rivals by huge margins today to cruise into the quarter finals of the ongoing 33rd N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament 2017 organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

In the first match between MPSC-C and X Polo Club, the latter did a good job to wrap up the game 11-2 .

Both teams started slowly in the first chukker which ended goalless.

It was in the second chukker that X Polo Club started to take the reign with a strong 5-1 lead through P Ojit (3) and L Atangba (2) .

Biking Salam scored the single goal for MPSC-C .

The third chukker saw no signs of return from the MPSC side and ended 7-1 in favour of X Polo with two goals scored by H Muhindro and P Ojit.

Th Jacob struck twice while L Atangba and H Muhindro scored one each for X Polo to finish the game 11-2.The last goal for MPSC-C was scored by Y Binoy.

In the second pre-quarter final match of the day, MPSC-B thrashed Khuman Polo Club 17-1, the highest score ever in this year's tournament.

MPSC-B took the grip from the first chukker onwards with a 5-0 haul and further made it 11-0 in the second half.

The condition of Khuman Polo Club further worsened in the third chukker as they had no clue till the end of the third chukker which went 14-0 in favour of the MPSC team.

O Paikhomba scored the only goal for Khuman Polo team in the fourth chukker.

H Abung Khuman scored the 5 goals in the first chukker to prevail over Khuman Polo team.

He also scored 3 goals in the second chukker, 2 goals in the third and a single in the fourth chukker making a total of 11 goals in the scoresheet.

Pradipkumar also scored 2 goals in the second chukker while M Jawan scored one goal in the third chukker and two in the fourth chukker.

Nongpoknganba also contributed one goal to notch up an overwhelming 17-1 victory.

In another high scoring match, Samadon Ayangba Polo Team outclassed DGAR Polo Team 7-2 .

The first chukker ended 3-1 in favour of Samadon Ayangba through goals, scored by Th Basanta, S Girimohan and N Hobby Achumi against the one scored by Abdul Malik of the DGAR team.

Hobby Achumi struck twice in the second chukker to extend the lead by 5-2.Abdul Malik scored the second and last goal for his team.

S Girimohan and Th Basanta took the honour to score one goal each in the third chukker to grab a quarter final berth with a 7-2 victory.

Tekcham Polo Club will play KNMM Riding Schoo-C in the first match tomorrow at 1 pm while Kangleipak Polo Star Club will take on Khurai Polo Club-A at 2 pm at the same venue.
