AAA Kongpal enter semi final via sudden death

Imphal, January 09 2014: In a pulsating quarter final match, AAA Kongpal came from behind thrice to enter the semi final of the 5th State Level Rabichandra Memorial Football Tournament via the sudden death, after the two teams were locked during regular play as well as in the penalty shoot out.

It was the team from Tekcham which took a commanding lead of three goals before the Kongpal team pulled one back, only to see LFC Tekcham add more goal.

LFC Tekcham shot into the lead as early as the 10th minute of the game when Madhumangol found the net with a powerful shot.

Dungo then added two more goals in the 27th and 42nd minutes of the match.

Undaunted by the three goal deficit, AAA Kongpal fought back and managed to pull one back in the 46th minute through Suman.

This however did not stop the LFC Tekcham, as they added one goal in the 48th minute when Rabichandra sent a well measured shot that found the net.

With a margin of three goals, LFC Tekcham pulled back and slowed down the pace of the game, which proved to be their undoing as the marauding attackers of AAA Kongpal took control of the midfield and repeatedly raided the other side.

The offensive style paid dividends, as goals came from Kiran in the 50th and 58th minutes of the game followed by Gora in the 60th minute to find the equaliser.

With both teams unable to break the deadlock, penalty shoot out was resorted to.

Here again the two teams matched each other equally and the game had be to decided by the sudden death format.

LFC Tekcham could found the net 9 times in the penalty and sudden death, while the team from Kongpal came out tops by scoring a perfect 10 in the in the penalty and sudden death.
