BMC Senior Women's Football : MPSC beat ESU in a close match

Imphal, April 06 2015 : Manipur Police Sporting Club (MPSC) crawled over the line against Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) Wangkhei in the group match of 6th AMFA BMC Senior Women's Football League being organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) at Artificial Turf, Khuman Lampak on Monday.

In a match between the equals, MPSC had to stretch extra mile to beat their rival.

Both the teams possess players that had played at international competitions.

Notably, MPSC had O Bembem, two times Indian Footballer of the Year and Ng Bala in their ranks.

First Half .

MPSC and ESU take the pitch with tons of confidence and tries to measure each other in the early period of the match.

Directions of the attack keep on changing from one end to another through swift counter attacks.

In one such attack, I Prameshwori turn dogged her marker and turns around police custodian to put the ball behind the police goal line in 22nd min of the match to hand over the lead to ESU. Police players played hard to come back into the match using different permutations and combinations.

ESU defenders stood like solid rocks to thwart the advances of police strikers in their territory.

ESU went into the breather with one goal advantage.

Second Half .

After the resumption of play, police press hard to get the equalizer.

More players were press upfront, by the police coach, to help the strikers in retrieving the one goal deficit.

At the same time ESU defenders did not wilted under the onslaught and defended without losing the clam and composer.

In one well-coordinated attack, Ng Bala was brought down by G Radharani just ahead of ESU 18 yard box "D" to hand over a free kick to MPSC.

O Bembem's free kick stunned the defenders and custodian of ESU equally when the ball sailed over the wall to the far post to the delight of police players and supporters and hand over the equalizer to police in 67th min.

The goal added a new spring in the fast tiring legs of police players.

With renew thrust police swamp ESU territory in search of the winning goal.

The effort was rewarded after a quick fire exchange of passes between the police player provide clear sight of goal to A Sakhitombi.

Sakhitombi shot the ball pass ESU custodian in 79th min to hand over the lead to police.

In the remaining minutes of play, ESU was not given any chance to come back into the match and deny any scoring chances.

At the end of the 90 min MPSC pocket the match in 2-1, to the frustration of ESU players and supporters.

The win put MPSC at top of the group with 6 points from two wins while KRYPSA is in second spot with 4 point from a win and a draw.
