Bull eye archery challenge kicks off

The mega contest in archery for boys and girls between the age group of 10 to 14 years got off with a colourful start at Koirengei Airfield today.
The contest will be held over four weeks with weekly elimination rounds and will culminate on March 27 when the grand finale will be held.
All the young archers will be vying for the coveted first prize of Rs one lakh each in girls and boys category.
This mega event is sponsored by Red Shield Division with support and close coordination of Manipur Archery Association.
In today's competition, 21 boys and 11 girls who were short listed after going through a selection process, took part.
Out of these five boys were eliminated and the rest will be competing in the next elimination round to be held on March 13 .
Col George Jacob, Commanding Officer of 165 Infantry Battalion (TA), who is conducting the event, said that the Bulls eye Challenge is aimed at spotting budding young talents in archery.
The winner in each category will take home cash prize of Rs one lakh.
In all prizes over Rs 3 lakhs will be awarded to the participants.
The idea is to further popularize the sport in Manipur and to find and motivate young archers who can further be groomed to excel at the national and international level, a statement of the PIB, Defence Wing Imphal said.
