Army organises 4th Kangla Ukok 5-a-side Football Tournament

Imphal, January 08 2025: Indian Army, in collaboration with the Changamdabi Club, successfully organised the 4th Kangla Ukok 5-A-Side Football Tournament at Changamdabi, Imphal East district from December 18, 2024, to January 7, 2025 .

A total of 26 teams from various regions participated in the tournament, which concluded with a thrilling final on January 7, 2025 .

John FC emerged victorious, defeating Cub FC 2-1 .

The final match attracted an audience of over 2,000 spectators from the Imphal East and Thoubal districts.

Th Shyamkumar, MLA Andro Constituency, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and presented the trophies to the winning teams.

In addition, medals were awarded to the best goalkeeper, best player, and the golden boot winner.

After being impacted by ethnic conflicts in previous years, the tournament was revitalised with the support of the Indian Army, serving as a platform to promote unity, discover emerging talent, and strengthen community bonds, said a press release from the PRO & spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland & Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
