UYC beat NPS to win TRIO Memorial football tourney

Kakching, December 26 2024: UYC Thongam emerged as the champions of 16th TRIO Memorial 5-A side Men's Open Soccer Football Tournament 2024, organised by Tokpaching Welfare Association (TWA), Tokpaching, Kakching.

They defeated NPS Lamjao in the final match played at the TWA playground on Thursday.

Following a scoreless draw in regulation time, the match progressed to a penalty shootout, where UYC prevailed 2-0 to secure the title.

The tournament drew 28 teams.

The closing ceremony was attended by Lamyanba Enterprises proprietor Dr Elangbam Amitkumar as chief guest, TRIO Memorial Trust president Salam Jiten as president, and social worker Sh Bobo, entrepreneur N Suresh, and Manipur Rural Bank Kumbi branch manager Dayananda as guests of honour.

Also present at the event was Oinam Binoy, principal Kakching Khunou College.
