Sarei U-14 boys secure title in football at 17th Monsang Sports Meet in Chandel

Imphal, January 24 2025: Sarei U-14 captured the U-14 boys' football title, while Liwa Changning and Changning veteran booked final berths in their respective categories in the football competition of the 17th Monsang Sports Meet 2025 at Liwa Sarei playground, Chandel.

Sarei U-14 won the U-14 boys' football event with a 3-1 triumph over Meeleen.

Kowarngam opened the scoring for Sarei in the 12th minute, and Ngaichonmi extended the lead in the 45th minute.

Meeleen briefly narrowed the deficit with Leo's goal in the 48th minute, but Ngaichonmi's second goal in the 50th minute sealed the championship title for Sarei.

In the first pre-veteran football semifinal, Liwa Changning prevailed 3-1 against Japhou in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

During the shootout, David, Ngamsha, and Kon-thang successfully converted their penalties, securing Liwa Changning's place in the final.

Meanwhile, Changning Veteran edged out Sarei in their veteran's semifinal match, thanks to a decisive goal by Ng Phamshir in the 15th minute.

In the women's fixture, Pantha narrowly beat Changning 1-0.Kh Peningchim's early goal in the 5th minute eventually proved to be the match winner.
