Wushu medallist Kh Jenim feted

Khaidem Jenim, an internally displaced person (IDP), was felicitated by Relief Camp Managing Committee, Indoor Stadium on Monday for winning the silver medal in wing chun kune, double dagger (kongphu-traditional event) at the 24th Junior National Wushu Championship held at Gachi-bowli Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana from July 1 to 6.Jenim is the son of Kh Inaobi of Sugnu Khaidem Leikai and has been staying at the Kakching Indoor Stadium relief camp with his family since outbreak of the conflict.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Jenim conceded that he had no idea about wushu before settling at the relief camp where he was inspired to take up the sport after seeing wushu players practicing at the same venue.
He also expressed gratitude to Pebam Thoibi of Wangkhei, who is working as mentor at the indoor stadium, for coaching him and the Relief Camp Managing Committee for supporting him in participating at the said championship.
His father Inaobi also shared that IDPs are facing serious problems in securing the future of their children and will greatly benefit if authorities concerned priorities education and sports activities of children of IDPs.
It can be mentioned that Kh Jenim had also won a gold medal at the 23rd Sub-Junior Wushu Championship held in Punjab.
