CANA Sports meet concludes, Ziontlang YC lift football trophy

Chandel, February 16 2014:
Ziontlang Youth Club emerged champion of the men's football defeating Purum Chumbang Youth club via tie breaker in the final match of the 50th Chothe Athourul Ngei Abom (CANA), (Chothe Students' Union, Manipur) sports meet cum golden jubilee celebration which concluded at Purum Tampak (Phaihu) in Chandel district today.
After the arrival of all the participating teams on Feb 13, the sports meet started from Feb 14 at Purum Tampak with President of the CANA, Ansai Thao declaring the meet opened.

All together 17 men's football teams and 17 each of men's and women's volleyball teams representing various Chothe clubs participated in the meet.
Host Priya team won the volleyball Championship title beating Salemthar in the final of the women's category while Purum Chambang Youth Club upset Khongkhang in the final of the men's volleyball.
On the other hand, in a keenly contested final of the men's football, Ziontlang defeated Purum Chumbang by 5-4 goals via tie breaker following a 2-2 goal deadlock during the normal time of the match.
The closing ceremony of the sports meet 2014 was held before the final match during which Member of ADC/Chandel MK Noah Chothe and Th Lakhsmon Singh, Social worker attended the function as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
Chiefs, Pastors and social leaders were present during the function.
Chief Guest of the function MK Noah Chothe, presented the men's Championship trophy to Ziontlang along with a cash prize of Rs 7000.The runner-up team Purum Chumbang received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000.The champion and runner up team in volleyball got cups and a cash prize of Rs 4000 and 2000 each respectively.
The chief guest also gave away individual prizes such as best player, top scorer and best keeper.
