UG cadres lay down arms

Imphal, February 16 2014:
Five cadres of three different UG outfits surrendered to BSF today along with arms and ammunition.
The five cadres laid down arms at a 'home coming ceremony' held at the 54 BSF tactical headquarters at the Loktak Project site, Bishnupur district in front of DIG Sector Hqs, BSF CI (Ops) M Sonuwal.
Of the five UG cadres who laid down arms today, three belonged to UNLF and one each to RPF and PREPAK.
The three UNLF cadres are S/S Lance Cpl P Nanao alias Tijamani, S/S Lance Cpl O Kokchaba alias Tomba and S/S Lance Cpl Simon Kuki alias Suanpao.

The RPF cadre has been identified as S/S Sergeant Nehlun Haokip alias Raju Kuki and the PREPAK cadre was one S/S Lance Cpl Ngamjaba alias Lalboi.
They brought along one lathode gun, one shell, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine containing 10 live rounds, one .32 pistol with three live rounds, one hand grenade and one magazine of AK 47 containing 12 live rounds.
Welcoming the surrendered cadres, DIG M Sonuwal said that the return of UG cadres to the mainstream would contribute to the overall welfare of the society and their own families.
BSF's Mizoram & Cachar Frontier IG BN Sharma and DIG SC Budakoti were also invited to the home-coming ceremony but they were absent because their helicopter could not reach the venue due to the inclement weather.
