MU Inter College Football : Malquer shines as Moirang College rout Kumbi College 5-0

Imphal, August 30 2019: Malquer produced a fine scoring performance at Kodompokpi Ground to help Moirang College oust Kumbi College by 5-0 goals in a one sided match of the ongoing A Pratap Singh Memorial Manipur University Inter College Football Tournament for men today.

The day also saw Presidency College, LMS Law College and Mayai Lambi College earn next round berths beating their respective rivals.

The 19th match of the tournament saw Moirang College enjoy a dominating possession and scoring chances to lead the game 3-0 in the first half thanks to Malquer who shone with four goals today.

Malquer opened up the scoring in the 6th minute before striking two more in the 12th and the 14th minute to help his team seal a 3-0 lead.

Kumbi College failed to find their form after the restart as well and conceded two more goals as Malquer hit his fourth in the 48th minute and Javed rounded off the scoring for the Moirang College in the 58th minute.

In the second match of the day, Khaikhogin (7', 22', 56') scored thrice including the opening goal of the match to earn Presidency College a comfortable 6-3 win against Biramangol College.

Nehgouhao also scored twice (51', 60') of Presidency College while Seiminlal added a single in the 42nd minute.

Surjakanta (12'), N Henry (20') and Md Farish Khan (70+2') scored for the losing side.

Meanwhile, LMS Law College made to the next round beating Thambal Marik College 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw during the regulation time.

Y Jibson equalised for LMS College in the 6th minute after O Khambaton opened up the scoring for Thambal Marik College two minutes earlier.

Thambal Marik College were able to regain the lead in the 22nd minute with the help of O Surchandra but the score was brought to level yet again by LMS Law College when its player, M Prasanta found the net in the 32nd minute.

As the two sides failed to find the difference, the game was dragged to penalty shoot-out wherein S Apollo, Th James, W Ajoy and Bernard N found the target for LMS Law College while only O Shanta, L Haridash and A Sushil could score for the losing team.

In the last fixture of the day, Mayai Lambi College earned a 3-1 win against United College.

Th Rabichandra (6') scored to help Mayai Lambi take the lead but ST Ningphahman scored the equaliser for United College in the 23rd minute of the match and the scoreline remained unchanged till the end of the first half as the two sides failed to find the breakthrough despite few scoring chances they get.

After the break, Mayai Lambi managed to make the headway with N Robert converting a penalty in the 51st minute.

N Robert added another 5 minutes latter and helped his team enjoy a 3-1 lead.

Mayai Lambi College then held on to their lead and eventually set up next round clash with LMS Law College.
