5th MNCA Elite Tournament 2021 : CYCLONE CC off to winning start, beat Model Club by 45 runs

Imphal, January 29 2021: CYCLONE CC kicked off their Group B league campaign in the 5th MNCA W Prahladaand W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2021 on an impressive note beating Model Club by 45 runs at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground at Luwangsangbam today.

Brilliant half centuries by Narsingh and L Kishan Singh before Bikash proved his mettle in bowling helped CYCLONE register the big win against Model Club which bundled out for 179 in 39.2 overs in the chase.

CYCLONE CC skipper, Homendro, after winning the toss, wisely chose to bat first and stacked up a total of 224 for 8 in 40 overs.

Narsingh set the early momentum hitting 67 off 83 balls though Ronald fell cheaply on 1 .

Akshay Kumar did his best to add up 20 runs off 32 for the team before L Kishan, who made a great outing at this year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Manipur impressed all with his knock of 81 runs (87 balls) to help set CYCLONE CC a commendable total.

Jenius of Model Club was the most successful bowler in this innings as he scalped 3/ 49 in his spell of 8 overs.

Priyokumar of the team on the other hand picked up two as Somorjit managed one wicket.

Model Club's skipper, Karnajit led the chase with 46 runs off 53 balls as Deepak and Langlonyamba respectively forged 31 and 33 runs but CYCLONE'S bowling attack led by Bikash trigger a major breakdown later on to reduce the chase to 179 all out in 39.2 overs.

As Bikash enjoyed a three wicket haul offering 21 runs in 6 overs, Suraj and Ronald added teeth to the attack by claiming two wickets each while Homendro and Kishan shared a wicket each.

L Kishan Singh who shone with both the bat and the ball was adjudged man of the match.

Sangai Champion Cricket Club, Singjamei will play FORCE CC, Kshetrigao tomorrow in a Group A league match at the same venue.
