KCC crush MPSC by 10 wickets to seal 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy title

Imphal, January 27 2024: Bowlers, Rohen and Nongmaithem Dijaraj were unstoppable as KCC-Kongba Bazar devastated MPSC- Manipur Central Jail by 10 wickets to lift the 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 title Trophy here at Lairengjam Public Ground.

Tayenjam Tomba led the KCC bowling attack to restrict toss winners MPSC to 106 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs before Rohen hit Potsangbam Bonem for a four to finish off the chase within 17.5 overs along with Nongmaithem Dijaraj.

Both Rohen and Dijaraj scored identical 53 runs as they stood together for an unbeaten 109-run partnership for the first wicket.

MPSC had a sloppy start to their innings and were reduced to 37/2 in the first powerplay as medium pacer Tayenjam Tomba bowled out Gelson Thoudam on 2 in the fourth over before Sarangthem Shangker got run out in the last delivery of the sixth over.

Before MPSC added any run, off-spinner Wahengbam Somorjit Singh came into action to leave further dent by bowling out Sagolshem Sunil on 21 (off 22 balls; 4 fours) and setting up incoming Soubam Kingson catch to Hijam Boba in the second and third delivery of the 7th over.

Pace-spin duo of Nandeibam Singthoi and Nameirakpam Arbin further throttled the MPSC strike rate as they dismissed Ngangom Sudesh and Potsangbam Bonem for the fifth and sixth wickets respectively before Tayenjam Tomba joined the party by removing Maibam Bijoykumar on 19 and Chingakham Lokeshwor on 10 in the 1st and the 4th deliveries of the 19th over to make it 92/8 .

Indraban Koijam 9 and Thongam Somorjit 5 were unbeaten as MPSC finished their innings at 106/8 .

In reply, N Dijaraj clobbered 7 fours on the way to his 67-ball 53 and Rohen smashed 9 fours on the way to his 40-ball 53 to take KCC to 109 for no loss in 17.5 overs as MPSC bowlers failed to find the breakthrough.

Winners KCC were eventually feted with a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and a trophy while MPSC had to contend with Rs 50,000 and a trophy.

N Singthoi of KCC emerged highest wicket taker with 28 scalps in his name in 10 innings and earned a cash prize of Rs 2,500 and a trophy as Thoudam Gelson Singh of MPSC bagged the highest run scorer and man of the series accolades worth Rs 7,500 (2,500+ 5,000) for registering 516 runs and picking 13 wickets in 10 innings.

Man of the final match, M Rohen was also feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,500 and a trophy.
