Governor attends beating the retreat

With a folk dance festival and beating the retreat ceremony, the 75th Republic Day celebration, 2024 came to close on Saturday.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey graced the folk dance festival and the spectacular beating the retreat ceremony held at 1 Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.
Chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers, MLAs, chief secretary and other top civil and police officers also attended the ceremony.
Governor Anusuiya presented a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh to Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai, Imphal East, for winning (first position) troupe of the folk dance festival; and Rs 75,000 to Lianda Folk and Classical Academy, Imphal West for securing second position; and Rs 50,000 to Tribal Cultures and Research Centre, Tamenglong district for securing third position.
She also felicitated four village chiefs and chairmen from Noney and Tamenglong district with red blankets.
The Governor also distributed prizes to winners of the March Past competition held on Friday as part of the Republic Day parade in different categories.
In the uniform contingent, BSF stood first, CRPF stood second and Tripura State Rifles contingent came in third position.
In school and other contingents, 1MR unit high school, Anouba Mangal Trust (Social Welfare Department) and Pari Imom contingent stood first, second and third position respectively.
Home Guard female band, 2MR band secured first and second position respectively, while CRPF band along with 1MR band jointly came in third position.
Talui Naga Village Dance troupe, Ukhrul won the first; Mao Cultural Dance troupe, Senapati second; while Maring Lhousha Dance troupe, Tengnoupal third position in the cultural dance troupes category.
Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) stood first position for Tableau, while Department of Tourism and Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation won second and third position respectively.
Special prizes were also distributed to selected officers.
1PR commissioner M Joy Singh and director (IPR) Dr Th Charanjeet Singh jointly received the prize from the Governor, along with the commandant of 1MR, PWD chief engineer, Water Resources chief engineer, MSPDCL managing director, IMG municipal commissioner, Parade commander and 1MR CO Ksh Ravikumar Singh (IPS), Guard of Honour commander Gaurav Dogra (IPS probation) and ASHA workers.
