Gujarat team calls on Governor

Imphal, January 27 2024:
Two Gujarat-based organisations namely, Vishwagram and Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), jointly called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Saturday and apprised her of the issues faced in relief camps and the team's initiative in the matter.
The team consisting of Vishwagram representative Darshan Patel and SEWA representative Revel Tejas, Jigyasa Pantiya and Goswami Disaben along with Ekta Parishad Manipur state convener Aribam Rishikanta met the Governor and informed her of the need to impart skill training to inmates of relief camps, in addition to upgrading existing skills and setting up a market for their products.
The team also informed that preparations are underway to provide basic and advance trainings to the inmates both in Manipur and Gujarat.
This will help them in making their products and access to market support as well.
Apart from this, selected inmates could be send to Gujarat to receive short term paramedic training and skill development, in addition to training on agriculture and allied activities.
In response, the Governor appreciated the works undertaken by the organisations.
Mention may be made that with regard to Manipur Relief Work and Sustainable Livelihood, Ekta Parishad and other different organisations - Gujarat's Vishwagram and SEWA; partner organisations in Manipur - Tomthin and Leitai Nongdai Sinnai Pung had collaborated with the Governor and the district administrations in extending relief materials to the various relief camps in the state.
Under this initiative, nutrition food and milk powder for children, jogging jacket for the old and the young, blanket, medical health check-up and free medicines were provided.
On top of this, other edible items, sports items and children toys were distributed.
The team is also in the process of carrying out skill development and livelihood training activities, particularly at relief camps and violence-hit areas.
The youth selected from the programmes will be send on an exposure trip outside Manipur, where they will receive basic and advance trainings.
Interested individuals will also be provided job opportunities.
So far, the team has visited 30 relief camps and 20 villages in five districts and extended assistance to over 10,000 people of which 3500 are children.
