CoTU, KIM condemn Satang attack

The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills has strongly condemned the attack at Satang village under Saikul subdivision of Kangpokpi district early Saturday morning allegedly by an armed group and condoled the deceased village volunteer namely Tilminlun Khongsai.
Tilminlun Khongsai (26) of Ng Phainom village, who was on duty in Satang village, which shares boundary with Meetei villages sacrificed his life while defending the area, CoTU said in a statement, adding that the deceased Kuki-Zo volunteer was buried at Kuki-Zo Martyrs' cemetery at Phaijang on Saturday afternoon.
The committee also paid its highest homage to Tilminlun Khongsai at the Martyrs' cemetery in Phaijang while assuring the bereaved family that the sacrifice made by the volunteer would not go in vain.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) also condemned the Satang Kuki village attack and considered it as an act of instigating fear and unrest among the Kuki civilians in the region.
The apex Kuki body also alleged that Meetei militants successfully breached the buffer zone.
The KIM then opined that the Government of India must initiate immediate measures to end the egregious violation of human rights in Manipur and the government must put an end to the ongoing violence.
KIM also stated that the unending hostilities between the Meeteis and the Kukis is an urgent call for a separate administrative unit for the two communities and the Government of India must no longer wait to restore peace, security and justice in the region.
