RCA beat TCMDC by 20 runs in 5th Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy

RCA, Lilong beat TCMDC, Thongju Part II Pechu Lampak by 20 runs for their second victory in three Group C matches in the 5th Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy at Lairenjam Public Ground.
Asked to bat first, RCA amassed 152 for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 wickets and held toss winners TCMDC to 132/8 to seal the 20 runvictory and extend their unbeaten run to three games having settled a point each in an abandoned match with PTCC, Patsoi Part HI on May 21 .
RCA had a slow start with Md Nasirshah Alam 18 off 19 balls and Md Alfash 12 off 16 balls gathering 27 runs for the first wicket before Md Anush 15 off 13 balls and Syed Hussain 26 off 23 balls gathered highest 37 runs for the 5th wicket and took the team past the 100-run mark (104 in 13.5 overs) .
Md Danish also made a crucial knock of 29 runs in 22 balls before he was trapped lbw by Urikhinbam Rain in the 5th delivery of the 19th over for the 7th wicket as the scoreboard read 141 .
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma returned with the best bowling figures of 3/28 in his spell of 4 overs while Rain (1/24) and Laishram Vishonath (1/41) finished with a wicket apiece.
In response, TCMDC got off to a promising start with Kalyan Sharma and Maibam Ashokumar forging a respectable total of 50 runs before Naesh broke the partnership by bowling out Kalyan on a 15-ball 20 in the 4th delivery of the 6th over.
Naesh also undone incoming Takhellambam Nganba on a 2-ball duck in the same over to reduce TCMDC to 50/2 in 6 overs.
TCMDC further slumped to 61/3 with Maibam Ashokumar holing out to Syed Hussain off the 1st delivery of the 9th over by Aziz Mirza before Rain and Laishram Vivekanda took control of the innings by collecting 60 runs off 46 balls and eased the pressure.
Rain however got run out on 18 before Md Danish Khan removed the stung by getting rid of Laishram Vivekananda on 39 for the 6th wicket at 124.TCMDC needed 29 runs in the last three overs to win but ended losing two more wickets, one each to Aziz Mirza and Illiyas and just 8 runs to end their innings at 132.Md Danish (2/28), Naesh Hussain (2/26) and Aziz Mirza (2/16) picked two wickets apiece as Illiyas returned with 1/12 in 3 overs.
Naesh Hussain who picked two wickets after adding crucial 18 runs was adjudged player of the match.
The day also saw PTRC, Patsoi Part IV and KCDO, Longpal sharing a point apiece as the Group A match was abandoned due to rain at Khudeiband Lampak.
PTRC had earlier bundled out KCDO for 75 runs in 13.5 overs riding on Laitonjam Jackson (3/10 in 3 overs), Sagolshem Bush (2/ 7) and RK Rex (2/7) .
PTRC had a blistering start to the chase with RK Rex hitting 3 fours and 1 six to take PTRC to 22 in just 5 deliveries but rain played spoilsport forcing the game to be abandoned.
Meanwhile, TRAU, who beat Model by 3 wickets in their opening (Group D) match, earned a walkover win against NCA, Ningthoukhong at Moijing Public Ground.
