Imphal East amass 56 medals including 15 gold, close in on overall team title
Imphal East today secured 5 gold, 5 silver and 12 bronze medals to take amass a staggering taly of 15gold, 18silverand23 bronze medals in the ongoing 19th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship.
N Tuphan won Imphal East a gold medal by beating compatriot E Hemash in the senior men's foil final as L Tomba of Thoubal and H Rabikumar bagged the bronze medals.
In the senior men's epee final, L Thoungamba of Thoubal claimed the gold medal by beating S Nelson of Chandel in the final today.
Th Dinkiraj and Sh Robert were able to seal the bronze medals of the competition.
In the senior women's foil final, N Mina of Imphal East defeated compatriot W Sonia for the gold medal as W Thoibi of Imphal East and L Khusboorani of Imphal West settled for the bronze medal.
The epee final was also an all-Imphal East clash and saw L Bidyapati overcome S Chingkheinganbi for the gold medal.
Linthoi H and S Nelcyrose both won the bronze medal in this competition.
Imphal East also bagged both the gold and silver medal in the sabre competition with Th Diana beating L Ambika in the final.
Imphal East's Muruga Laxmi and Ph Baby of Imphal West picked up the bronze medals.
Sub-junior
Lamyanba of Imphal East won the sub-junior boys foil gold today beating Imphal West rival Tamnganba T in the final as Tenison M of Imphal East and A Henthoisana of Senapati finished with the bronze medals.
P Arjun of Ukhrul in the meantime sealed the epee gold medal by defeating compatriot L Deepu in the final as K Jeriyul of Imphal East beat compatriot L Lanchenba for the sabre gold medal.
T Kadamba and Jaceyon Th of Imphal East finished with the epee bronze medals as Th Kishorjit of Imphal East and Nelson of Imphal West claimed the sabre bronze medals.
The day also saw sub-junior girls' foil gold go to Rashina N of Imphal West beating Ng Merina of Imphal East in the final today.
Alish M and Thoisana H both representing Imphal East bagged the bronze medals.
In the epee competition, Minarva Y defeated N Piyanganbi in an all-Imphal East final as G Kenya of Senapati and H Bhumika of Imphal East settled for the bronze medals.
Payal N of Senapati fetched the sabre gold medal by defeating A Florina of Ukhrul in the final today.
Securing bronze medals in the competition were H Nirupama of Senapati and Somika Th of Imphal East.
