29th Manipur Taekwondo C'ship, 12th Governor's Cup begin

Imphal, August 18 2016: The 29th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship and 12th Governor's Taekwondo Cup began today under the aegis of All Manipur Taekwondo Association at Taekwondo training hall, NSA, Khuman Lampak.

The opening day saw N Sania Devi of UTA clinching gold in the sub-junior girls U-22 kg category.

In the senior girls U-46 kg, Ng Abem Devi of SAI- RC bagged gold while E Sanathoi of SAI-RC claimed gold in the junior girls U-55 kg category.

M Tolika of UTA snatched gold in the junior girls U-63 kg category.

Meanwhile, Laishram Lemba Meitei of NSA bagged gold in the Cadet boys U-49 kg category.

In the U 37 kg Cadet girls category, Th Lucky of SAI- RC won gold and Naorem Reema Devi of NSA won gold in Cadet girls U-44 kg category.

In the U-63 kg Junior boys category, Ch Yaikhomba of NSA won gold.

Hengunhao Haokip of UTA clinched gold in the Junior boys U-73 kg cat- egory while B Prabinkumar Sharma of CTI won gold in the Junior boys U-78 kg cat- egory.

In the Senior men U-74 kg category, H Manichandra of CTI claimed gold while I Chingkheinganbi of UTA bagged gold in the Sub-jun- ior U-29 kg category.

The opening ceremony of the championship was at- tended earlier in the day by Bobby Waikhom, DC, Bishnupur; Y Khemchand, president, All Manipur Taekwondo Association and W Sushilkumar Singh, retired Joint Director, YAS as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

The organisers informed that there will be no matches for two days from tomorrow due to general strike.
