Boxing: SRBA-A emerge team champions of Governor's Cup

Imphal, November 16 2024:
SRBA-A were crowned overall team champions of the 2nd Governor's Cup Boxing Championship 2024.On the final day of the competition, SRBA-A's Thongam Kunjarani Devi added to her team's success by clinching gold in the women's elite 57kg category.
She delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over SAI-STC's Thoudam Prameshwori in their final match.
Her win brought SRBA-A's gold tally to 17 .
SRBA-A amassed a total of 103 points courtesy of 33 medals to secure the overall championship title.

Their medal haul included 17 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze.
MKRBA-A were runners-up, earning 98 points from their medal haul of 16 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze.
NSA rounded out the top three with 41 points, claiming 6 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Individual accolades were also distributed during the closing ceremony held at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena on Saturday.
NBA's Keisham Jhonson walked home with the best boxer award in the men's category, while MKRBA-A' s Luwangleima Soram claimed the best women's boxer accolade.
On the other hand, SRBA-A' s Tongbram Manithoiba Meitei and MKRBA-A's Gunshalu Khumba were recognised as the most promising boxers in the boys' and girls' categories, respectively.
Other top finishers on the final day included Toijam Bhumabati Chanu (PBA), Ningthoujam Manda Chanu (SAI-STC) Ahongshangbam Kajal Devi (SAI-STC) and Sovi Jajo (MKBA -A), who each triumphed in their respective gold-medal bouts.
Bhumabati secured a decisive 5-0 win over Maibam Rosemary Chanu (SRBA-A) .
Manda also made her mark with an identical 5-0 against Thongram Lancenbee Chanu (UBA) Kajal edged out Huidrom Griviya Devi (MKBA-A) with a 3-2 verdict, and Sovi sealed a 4-1 victory over Huideom Ambeshori Devi (SRBA-A) .
The closing ceremony was attended by T Phulen Meitei, director YAS, L Ibomcha Singh, retired deputy director SAI and Dronacharya awardee, and N Parithoihen Meitei, chief finance officer YAS, as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.
