Imphal, November 16 2022: Overall team champions of the first edition of North East Olympic Games, Manipur reigned supreme once again in the second edition hosted by Meghalaya Olympic Association at Shillong.

In the 18-discipline regional sporting gala event, Manipur topped the medal tally with a total of 88 gold, 75 silver and 77 medals.

Assam with 79 gold, 61 silver and 63 bronze medals finished runners up while Arunachal Pradesh finished second runners up with 39 gold, 36 silver and 37 bronze medals.

Manipur emerge tennis champions
Manipur tennis contingent were crowned team champions with a haul of 7 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

The last day of the competition saw the pair of Bunty Chongtham and Charmie Nongmeikapam clinch gold by beating the Assam team in a nail biting super tie breaker.

Bunty and Charmie made a good start but faltered in the second set.

The duo however held their nerves to seal the game 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 .

Earlier in the semis, Bunty and Charmie outlasted Mizoram pair of Sandhya Chettri and Lalengmawii 6-1, 6-4 .

Yesterday, the Manipur team thumped Mizoram team 2-0 in the final to earn the top honour.

Manipur opened the account with Bicky Sagolshem beating Innocent Lalrindika 6-2, 7-6 (6) before Bushan Haobam sealed the deal with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 comeback win over Basil Khumma.

Shanker Heisnam earned Manipur a gold medal with an easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Jigyashman Hazarika of Assam in the boys' U-18 singles final before Thoibi Yumnam captured the U-18 girls singles title beating Nandini Laishram in an all-Manipuri final clash.

In the all-Manipuri men's single title clash, Bushan Haobam downed Bicky Sagolshem 7-6 (3), 7-6 (1) .

Shanker Heisnam and Joshua Thiyam were able to add a silver medal to Manipur's tally as they went down 1-6, 2-6 to Manan Nath and Jigyashman Hazarika in the junior boys doubles title clash.

The men's doubles pair of Bushan Haobam and Bicky Sagolshem settled for a bronze medal with a 4-6, 2-6 semi-final loss at the hands of Vilasier Khate and Keneisezotuo Whourie who went on to win the gold medal.

Shooting : Aaryaman bags 10 m rifle team gold, individual silver
Aaryaman Lairenjam bagged a silver medal in the men's individual 10 rifle (ISSF) championship by amassing 616.9 points.

Siddhant Chatterjee took the gold medal in this event scoring a total of 617.2 points while Manipur's Davidson Khumbongmayum finished third with 614.7 points to settle for the bronze medal.

Aaryaman along with Davidson and K Asish Sharma collected a total of 1843.2 points to claim 10 m rifle (ISSF) team championship gold medal as Assam (1824.3) and Mizoram (1803.7) bagged silver and bronze medals.

Manipur finished second in Shooting discipline with a total of 17 medals including 4 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze in the regional event as Assam (11 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze) emerged on top of the table.

Karatekas finished the campaign with 2 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze
State Karatekas were able to add 2 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals to State's tally with P Binasakhi winning the last bronze medal today in the -60 kg senior women's kumite event.

Judo : Manipur racked up as many as 7 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals in the Judo event .

Football : Manipur U-17 women's football team emerged champions while Manipur men's team settled for a bronze medal finishing third.

Wrestling : Manipur emerge team champions in wrestling securing 8 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Kh Nilbir (65 kg), Y Viktor (70 kg), S Heithoiba (74 kg) won gold medals in the men's competition as Sh Binita (55 kg), Holina Ningombam (57 kg), N Chaoba (50 kg), N Bishori (59 kg) clinched gold in women's competitions.

Alam Khan (57 kg) won a silver medal as Y James (61 kg) and Luwang Chanu Linthoi (53 kg) bagged bronze medals.
