Goalkeeping coach shares thoughts

Imphal, December 14 2020: Sports played across the world fall within individual or team events and the aspects of a team are often neglected.

Throwing light on the aspects of a team which are aiming high, Level-Ill goalkeeping coach of Sudeva FC, Sapam Premkanta elaborated on the definition of team and broke down the letters consisting as : T for Together; E for Everyone; A for Achiever and M for More.

Though lately, the 14th edition of the I-League is set to be held at three venues across West Bengal from Jan 9 next year, said the coach of Sudeva FC which are debuting the tournament this season.

He also went on to highlight the role of a player in a team and the opportunities lying ahead after making it to teams playing for top tier events of the country.

Making it to the team featuring in a tournament like I-League will be a big step towards professionalism as it is a big market where values of players are assessed minutely, he said.

It is the talents that enable players to earn a place in big teams and the tournaments are the platforms where they prove their mettle, he said.

Above this, the players will be able to experience a "new world", he said while adding, " the more the exposure the more the players learn" .

If a player manages to better his skills and abilities, he will earn opportunities to join higher tier teams and even earn foreign contracts which will pay much higher.

Not only this, if the player excels in his position, he may be called up to join the National team and it is the dream of all players to serve the Nation and join big professional teams, he said.

Things do not end here.

Since a team is composed of numerous players, there are more aspects each player must fulfil to make the team stronger and ready, he continued.

Every player must have a strong sense of responsibility, respect for fellow players and most importantly self belief, he said.

If the players have all these qualities, they and the team will surely succeed, Sapam Premkanta continued.
