Junior and Senior State Archery C'ships : Sorokhaibam Johnson stars as SAC collect 3 gold medals in junior Compound events

Imphal, November 12 2025: Sorokhaibam Johnson of SAC, Top Mayai Leikai strikes three gold medals in the junior Compound event in the ongoing 37th Junior and 35th Senior State Archery Championships as Huidrom Alphabati clinched two gold medals for SAI-RC.

In the junior men's individual Compound event, Sorokhaibam Johnson shot 145 points to win the gold as M Robinson of UAC and Yensembam Rojit of SAI-RC shot identical 142 points to settle for the second and third places.

In the junior men's 50m x 50m Compound competition, Sorokhaibam Johnson amassed 693 points to seal another gold medal as SAI-RC's Y Rojit shot 687 points to finish second and Elangbam Lamnganba of SAC finished third on 680 points.

S Johnson also teamed up with Elangbam Lamnganba, Ranel Takhellambam, and Nongthombam Pari to clinch the Compound team event gold on 230 points as UAC team (223 pts) and SAI-RC team (229 pts) settled for the second and third places.

Meanwhile, Huidrom Alphabati earned SAI-RC two gold medals by securing top position in the junior women's individual Compound event by scoring 141 points and 50m x50m event by scoring 674 points.

BAA's Senyai Thongam (138 pts) and S Stelina (137 pts) bagged the silver and bronze medal in the individual event as Senyai (667 pts) and AAA's Th Gracia (641) settled for the second and third place in the 50m x50m event.

Senior competitions underway: The day also saw the commencement of the Senior men and women's recurve competitions.

Jenifer Paonam of BAA won the senior women's individual gold medal by defeating Th Sanai of ARAC 6-0 in the final as Takhellambam Sen Meitei of ARAC bagged the men's gold by defeating BAA's Paikhomba Chongtham 6-4 in the final.

W Maleshwori of BCAC meanwhile sealed the senior women's 70m x 70m recurve gold medal by amassing 616 points as Th Sanai of ARAC shot 614 points and Karina Chanu Soraisam of NSU shot 612 points to finish second and third.

Leishangthem Yuhenba meanwhile earned the men's 70m x 70m recurve gold medal by collecting 658 points to finish ahead of Nameirakpam Subhachandra of ARAC (656 pts) and Paikhomba Chongtham of BAA (654 pts) .

SAI-RC team of Yumnam Anupama, Sorokhaibam Melody , Yaikhombi Thongam and Huidrom Sandhyarani on the other hand earned the senior women's recurve gold with a 6-0 win over BAA team comprising Jenifer Paonam, Kh Tanouhanbi.

and Ningthoujam Linthoingambi in the final.

ESU team finished third in the event to bag a bronze medal.

N Subhachandra, Takhellambam Sen Meitei and Akoijam Amarjit of ARAC meanwhile earned the men's recurve team gold by defeating SAI-RC team comprising L Yuhenba, E Orbit, I, Nelson, and K Rohit 6-0 in the final.

The BAA team finished third in the event.
