Imphal, April 06: Imphal Riding Club (IRC) defeated Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club 3-2 in the opening match of the 23rd N Hazari State Polo Tournament at Imphal Pologround today.

The Thangmeiband side took the lead in 4.31 minutes of the game of the first chukker through M Surjit with L Rabi levelling for IRC in the next minute.

The scoreline was tied in the second session as well as Th Gautam (IRC) neutralised M Bilam's goal before Gautam scored the match winner in the 4th chukker.

In all 13 teams are taking part in the tournament.
