22nd Sub-Jr Boys Inter District Football : Shitan helps DSA-Kakching thrash IWDFA in tournament opener

The 22nd edition of Sub-Junior Boys Inter District Football Tournament being organised by All Manipur Football Association kick-started today at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak in the presence of S Sanatomba, president AMFA; L Jyotirmoy Roy, general secretary in-charge AMFA and L Dinamani, treasurer AMFA as dignitaries.
A total of 5 district teams clubbed into two groups, are taking part in this tournament.
The opening match (Group A) of the tournament saw DSA Kakching enjoyed a dominating start as they were able to thrash Imphal West District Football Association (IWDFA) by 4-0 goals while Imphal East District Football Association (IEDFA) saw off DSA Bishnupur in the opening Group B league match.
DSA Kakching dominated the game from the beginning at it was in the 9th minute that Shachikumar opened the scoring to hand his team a 1-0 lead till first half.
IWDFA had a golden chance to equalise the score when they were awarded a spot kick in the 32nd minute but Monex who stood up to take the kick failed to convert as his shot went wide off the post.
The impetus remained with the Kakching side in the second half as well and Shitan was at its best as he scored a hattrick, his first goal coming in the 49th minute.
The other two goals came up in the 60th and the 78th as the Imphal West side were already deteriorated and could not fend off the incisive runs.
Eventually the game ended 4-0 in favour of DSA Kakching.
In the first Group B league match of the tournament, Y Narish scored a brace to help IEDFA secure a 4-2 win.
IEDFA enjoyed the early proceedings of the match with crisp passing and better understanding and it was in the 8th minute that Y Narish drew first blood before Ph Amuba doubled the advantage in the 9th minute.
Stung by the 2-0 lead, DSA Bishnupur who were finding their form, came alive in the 14th minute when Kh Suraj found the back of the net after a fine run into the box while his compatriot Sakir scored the equaliser in the 16th to make it 2-2 till first half.
After the breather, Imphal East side entered the field with an attacking approach while keeping the goalline intact at the same time.
The approach paid dividend when RK Dhanaraj broke the deadlock in the 48th minute before Y Narish made it 4-2 in the 70th minute.
The Bishnupur side failed to break the defence line of IEDFA and ultimately the game ended 4-2 in favour of the Imphal East side.
