Woman held with drugs worth Rs 3,75 Cr

Imphal, February 20 2019:
Brown Sugar weighing about 1.8 Kg and worth about Rs 3.72 crore was seized by a combined team of Moreh police and Moreh battalion of Assam Rifles today about 5.50 am near the IMB along the Indo-Myanmar border.
In a statement, PRO of Assam Rifles said that acting on an input a joint team of Moreh Battalion and Moreh police was deployed from early morning and the joint team saw a woman coming from Myanmar side suspiciously towards their side of the 1MB and she was stopped for checking.
On checking the security team discovered 13 neatly packed package of contraband items in brick shapes.
The package contained suspected Brown Sugar weighing about 1.8 Kg and worth about Rs 3.75 crore, said the PRO and added that on minute interrogation, the woman identified herself as a Myanmarese National Themneilam Haokip @ Neilam, 35 years age D/o Ngamsel Haokip of Namphlong, ward no 12, Tamu, Myanmar.
Themneilam also disclosed that she was a carrier of contraband items and she was asked to drop the Brown Sugar on the Indian side.
She was formally arrested at about 6 am and handed to Moreh police for further legal action.
