Imphal, September 25 2013:
The underground United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) reiterated that many Kuki civil bodies based in Chandel with the exception of Kuki Inpi Manipur have been threatened by the KNLF while appealing the KNLF to stop threatening public leaders immediately.
A statement issued by the information and publicity secretary of UKLF, JM Thadou clarified on its press release of Sept 23 mentioning the name of Kuki Inpi Manipur as a threatened civil body by KNLF.
As KIM denied being threatened by any one, the UKLF accepted it as such.
However, it reiterated that Kuki civil society organisations of Chandel like KPF, KCA, KWHR and KSO have been threatened by the KNLF.
Pointing out that Khengjoi Block and Sajik Tampak areas (Dingpi) had been violence-hit areas in the past, the UKLF statement asserted that the outfit is not prepared to let similar situations happened again which may disturb the peace and harmony of the area.
It therefore appealed all concerned to respect the peaceful atmosphere prevailing there while urging the KNLF to stop threatening the public leaders immediately.
