The Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) Ukhrul unit recently felicitated its founder member Luingam Luithui at their office at Ramungo's Library, Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
The programme was organised to honour Luithui for his contribution in Human Rights protection.
Luithui also got the prestigious Asia Indigenous Peoples Regional Fair in July this year.
The award was conferred to him in a function held at Chiang Mai, Thailand.
He was among the ten indigenous Human Rights activists from Asia.
Luithui has been involving in the formation of many mass-based platforms and grass-root organizations since 1978.Serving various organizations, he took ground-breaking initiatives on the issue of indigenous peoples and the Nagas in particular.
The NPMHR congratulated him and reiterated the numerous important contributions he had made to the Human Rights movements and to the cause of the Nagas and indigenous people.
