Imphal, May 11 2009: Troops of 21 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South ) had gunned down two cadres of KIA during an operation launched on May 9 in Sekmaijin area.

A press release from PRO, HQ IG AR (South) informed that based on specific information regarding the movements of armed UGs in Sekmaijin are, the troops launched an operation during which the encounter with the UGs took place.

One AK 56 rifle with magazine, one grenade launcher M-97 (Lathode), 40 mm (Spring Field Armoury)-US,15 live rounds of AK -56, three 40 mm live grenade of Lathode and three fired cases have been recovered from the slain UGs.

The dead bodies of the slain UGs along with the recovered items have been handed over to Kakching police station on May 9, the press release added.
