Troops of 12 Assam Rifles recovered a cache of explosive devices during an operation conducted at Kamjong yesterday.
A press statement of PRO Hqs IGAR (S) said that the troops launched an operation in the area acting on a reliable information.
At around 4:30 pm, the statement said, the troops noticed two persons moving suspiciously, and the duo tried to flee on seeing the SF team.
The troops however over powered them and seized 17 detonators from them.
On spot interrogation, the individuals further revealed that one more individual who had gone to Ukhrul by bus was involved in it.
The troops rushed to Gamnoum and apprehended one more suspect from the bus.
Further interrogation led to the recovery of 87 detonators, 12 PEK sticks (made by Amn Explosive Pvt Ltd, Yenvera 441502, Nagpur, each stick weighing 125 gms), four pipe rings, three plastic pipes, one bolt assembly of G-3 rifles, six metres of flexible wire, 13 metres of PVX wire, 15 fuse wires and one trouser combat.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ringphami (28) s/o (L) Ringhon of Khangpat, Maihotmi (25) s/o Benjamin of Khangpat Khl, Ringhami Tkl (30) s/o Abothe of Klangu and Anterson Tkl (62) s/o (L) Luishophang of Ukhrul.
The individuals with the seized items were handed over to Imphal police station today, added the statement.
