Dimapur, May 11 2009:
ACTING ON specific information about presence of cadres in Marwari Patti area in Dimapur, a patrolling party of 24 Assam Rifles on Saturday apprehended two KYKL activists while they were extorting money from a shop in that area.
A defence statement said the two apprehended cadres were identified as Rabindro Sharma and K Dolendra Singh of Thoubal district.
Tax receipts of KYKL, a large sum of Indian and Korean currency including SBI ATM Cards were recovered from their possession.
The cadres were handed over to Dimapur East Police Station.
The defence statement stated that Assam Rifles have activated special teams to keep sensitive areas of Dimapur under surveillance with an aim to thwart any attempt by underground groups to carry out any unlawful activity vitiating peace and security of the area.
