Fish farmers awareness programme and distribution of fisherman cards held

Bishnupur, December 26 2024:
The Department of Fisheries, Government of Manipur in collaboration with Sinheibi Development Organisation, on Wednesday held a Fish Farmers Awareness Programme and Distribution of Fisherman cards under the National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) at Keibul Lamjao village, Bisnupur district.
This initiative is a key component of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY), spearheaded by the Department of Fisheries, Government of India which seeks to strengthen the fisheries sector through targeted financial and technological interventions, fostering institutional reforms for sustainable and transformative growth.
The event also marked the celebration of Good Governance Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The programme was graced by M Asnikumar Singh, chairman of Loktak Development Authority (LDA), District Fishery officer, Bishnupur E Rameshore, Pradhan Moirangkhunou Gram Panchayat, L Dhaneswor Singh and Oinam Sova Singh, a renowned local educationist as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, M Asnikumar Singh, chairman of LDA stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the Government is steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of the fishing community.
He continued that initiatives like PM-MKSSY are pivotal in addressing the challenges faced by the fish farmers and in driving the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
The event also witnessed distribution of Fisherman cards to 100 fishermen from Moirangkhunou Gram Panchayat of Thanga constituency.
These cards aim to facilitate access to Government schemes and resources, empowering local fish farmers and promoting the overall development of the fisheries sector.
