Leader of UG group in peace pact held for abducting non-local

The general secretary of the Lallumba group of KCP (MC), Wahengbam Ramananda alias Rousow (38) along with another accomplice has been arrested by the Imphal East police on the charge of abducting a non local man, Suresh Prasad alias Suan (31) of Bihar.
In a statement, Imphal East police SP, Kamei Angam Romanus said that acting on a reliable information, the two persons, the other being Takhelmayum Nandababu (41) of Kairang Maning Leikai were arrested on December 4 from Khomidok Mamang Leikai at about 2.30 pm.
The non local man, Suresh Prasad was abducted on December 3 evening from Kairang Maning Leikai.
Two mobile phones, one red coloured Maruti (800) car bearing registration number MN/05A-3001, one cartridge of 70 mm were recovered from the abductors during the rescue mission, said the SP in the statement.
Significantly, the police statement did not mention that Rousow is a member of the Lallumba group of the KCP (MC), which has come to the negotiating table.
The KCP (MC) Lallumba group had come overground to hold political dialogues with the Government some time back.
Cadres of the group had earlier claimed that Lallumba had disappeared from the designated camp along with cash and other items and since then Rousow had taken over the leadership of the outfit.
Cadres of a number of outfits which are currently in peace pacts with the Government have been frequently pulled up or arrested for indulging in unlawful activities.
