Imphal, May 04, 2013:
An official meeting presided by CAF&PD Minister M Okendro today discussed about taking control of distribution of transport fuels from NRL, BPCL and Essar.
It is said that CAF & PD department would issue an order shortly to bring distribution of fuel oils by these three companies in Manipur under the Government's control.
On the other hand, proprietors/managers of fuel retail outlets said that they are unable to build up their fuel oil stocks even though they are allotted fuel oil at the normal rate because their stocks depleted to a very low level during the recent bandhs and blockades.
With people buying fuel oils in larger quantities, whatever allotment gave by the IOC on daily basis are sold off in a single day.
If the daily allotment is made on Sunday, the retail outlets have to shut down their business on Monday because all the allotted quantities of fuel oils are sold off on Sunday.
Fuel oils are being distributed to the public because eight IOC petrol tankers and 38 diesel tankers arrived on May 1, followed by 25 diesel tankers and 18 petrol tankers on May 2, 37 diesel tankers and 16 petrol tankers in May 4. As for the 20 per cent of the daily consumption supplied by retail outlets of private companies, there is no measure as of now to make it up.
