Imphal, February 08, 2011:
The All Manipur Student Guardians' Organisation has urged the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) to restrict their activities only to the duties and responsibilities assigned to them.
Speaking to media persons at their office at Palace Compound, advisor of the organisation H Kulla said that BOSEM has been engaging itself in activities meant for the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT).
According to rules, the SCERT should take the responsibility of publishing text books and BOSEM should conduct examinations but BOSEM is transgressing into SCERT activities by publishing text books.
BOSEM office does not look like an office.
It looks like a godown, Kulla said.
Chief advisor of the organisation N Tomba said that Class X examination is very crucial in the academic career of students.
But BOSEM which is responsible for conducting Class X examinations has not been functioning properly since the murder of its Chairman Kunjabihari even as Class X exam is fast approaching.
Saying that text books and out-books of Commerce subjects and Hindi are not available readily in adequate quantity in Manipur, N Tomba sought attention of the State Government to look into it.
