Hita Hengjol gets new community hall

A newly constructed community hall cum office of Solam Haokip Area Chiefs' Association has been inaugurated at the remote Hita Hengjol village under Singhat A/C yesterday.
The newly inaugurated community hall cum office building has been constructed under BRGF, 2009-2010. Inaugurating the community hall cum office, MLA T Hangkhanpao dedicated the same to the people.
Hailing Hangkhanpao as the first elected representative who ever visited the remote village to look after the required developmental works, chiefs of 31 villages, Church leaders, Pastors and a large number of villagers, who were present at the occasion, pledged to ensure the success of T Hangkhanpao, irrespective of his party affiliation, in the upcoming General Elections to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Inhabited by Kuki community, Hita Hengjol situated atop of a hill which can be reached only after walking on foot for around 2 kms after driving along Sangaikot Road connecting Churachandpur and Sugnu for 30 kms.
Established in 1961, the village has around 50 households with a population of around 400 people.
The inaugural function of the community hall cum office was organised under the aegis of Solam Haopi Area Chiefs' Association, which is a conglomerate body of chiefs belonging to 28 different villages located under the jurisdiction of Sangaikot TD Block.
At the occasion, Association chairman and chief of New Bijang village Ngamjang Touthang formally announced support to MLA T Hangkhanpao in the coming General elections to the State Assembly without any consideration for his political affiliation.
Secretary of Makhao Area Election Committee Jamsei Lhungdin and chiefs of three other villages also made similar declaration while the chiefs of Makhao and Solam Haopi areas informed that election campaign for Hangkhanpao has been started along with formation of election committees.
Along with introduction of all the participating village chiefs and leaders to the gathering, MLA Hang-khanpao presented traditional red blankets to them.
He also expressed gratitude for the unanimous decision to support him in the upcoming General elections.
Chief of Hita Hengjol village Lunthang Haokip expressed happiness over dedication of the community hall cum office building constructed under Border Road Grant Fund (BRGF), 20009-10. Hangkhanpao is the first MLA of the Constituency who ever visited the village to look after the required developmental works, he added.
