Imphal, February 08, 2011:
On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Manipur People's Army (MPA), the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of the proscribed UNLF has called upon the people to join the liberation movement enmasse.
Until and unless the people join the liberation movement in a complete manner, the liberation movement would never succeed.
Further, calling upon the people to participate actively in the UNLF's proposal for plebiscite as a means of resolving the Manipur-India conflict, the outfit pointed out that the proposal needs full backing and people's movement in order to realise it.
A statement issued by the outfit's acting Chairman Kh Pambei greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of MPA 24th raising day.
It asserted that liberation movement of Manipur is indispensable, and is justified and would be decisive in determining the future political destiny of the different communities of the land.
The MPA's struggle backed by the people is a war to regain the sovereignty of Manipur, allegedly confiscated with force.
The emergence of colonialism was closely followed by the rise of liberation movements.
The liberation movement of Manipur is also a result of the alleged forceful annexation of Manipur by India.
The UNLF's army wing MPA was set up as compelled by the situation in which it was inevitable to face the Indian army.
Since then the MPA have been fighting against the alien forces.
The MPA's resistance movement is to protect Manipur and save the indigenous people of the land from the atrocities and repressive measures of the alien rule.
New Delhi's propaganda that the liberation movement of Manipur is rebellion against the Government of India has no truth.
But the liberation movement is a struggle to regain the lost sovereignty of Manipur, confiscated by India with force.
On the other hand, the Government of India's war to suppress the people of Manipur has no justifiable ground.
This is well testified by the tradition and history of liberation movements across the world.
"Because of all these reasons, the Government of India would fall and the our justified struggle would ultimately triumph.
Our war of liberation is for all the people, not for any particular section", the outfit asserted while adding that the Government of India should take note of these facts.
On the contrary, the Government of India has been imposing several draconian Acts like the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 in the North East region including Manipur.
Under the infamous AFSPA, many insurgents and innocent people are being tortured and killed while numerous women were raped and molested as many were maimed for life.
Further, a number of people were forced to disappear involuntarily.
All these activities are innate characters of colonialism and this would ultimately prove to be graveyard of the alien rule, the outfit alleged.
Even as the Government of India has been proudly claiming that it is the largest democracy in the world, it cannot act on its own without seeking consent of its armed forces.
The Government of India's accession to its armed forces' objection to abolition of AFSPA which the latter use as a shield while committing all kinds of human rights violation is a clear testimony to Government of India's inability to act without consent of its own army.
That is why, the Government of India is stubbornly refusing to pay any heed to the cry of the people of the region and a large number of international human right groups to repeal AFSPA.This is not a character of a democratic country though AFSPA has been literally keeping the people on tenterhooks in a highly insecure atmosphere.
In addition to the draconian laws like AFSPA, the alien rule has been creating several agencies, the latest being the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA is adept in secret and covert operations and this was testified by its audacity to produce Chairman Sana Yaima with a claim that he was arrested from Bihar 61 days after the Chairman was arrested from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
NIA, a secret agency of the alien rule, has been scheming to award heavier punishment to all "patriots, their supporters and suspected patriots", the outfit alleged.
The Government of India has been deliberately refusing to acknowledge the fact that the alleged forceful annexation of Manipur by India is the root cause of the liberation movement.
The alien rule's secret agency NIA should not be allowed to make any foothold in Manipur, the outfit asserted.
