Licypriya Kangujam to meet Pope Francis in Italy

Imphal, May 22 2024:
12 years old child environmentalist and climate activist Licypriya Kangujam will meet Pope Francis at the Vatican in a couple of days for the second time after her visit last year.
She will participate in the World's Children Day Celebration to be graced by Pope Francis on May 25 and May 26 in Rome.
This significant day was proclaimed by the Pope on December 8, 2023 with the organization entrusted to the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
Licypriya will urge the Pope to bring together world leaders to deliver climate justice to the global south especially to the poor developing Nations and small island countries, to stop the war in Gaza, Palestine and to bring together both the communities of Meiteis and Kukis to end the year long brutal conflicts in Manipur, her birthplace.

She will also interact with various media personalities of Italy and high school students during her visit on various global issues.
Last year, a documentary film called "Earth for All" featuring Licypriya and Pope Francis along with 4 other Planet Heroes was released in Rome on November 28 .
The film highlights the urgency to fight global climate crisis.
Her main mission is to fight to get clean air to breathe, clean water to drink and a clean planet to live on, said Licypriya.
She will leave for Italy today.
She will be accompanied by her mother, Bidyarani Devi Kangujam and little sister Irina Kangujam along with six other activists from Africa, USA and Brazil in her delegation team.
