The outcome of the 45-day theatre workshop started on May 1 and organised by Khenjonglang, Imphal and Meisum, Ukhrul will be showcased not only in different parts of the State but also in New Delhi.
Khenjonglang Imphal director Thanil Leima, who is also the workshop director while talking to reporters at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen today said that the workshop taken part by 30 participants is being organised with an objective to uplift the tradition of Tangkhul community to the National level, and also to chalk out plans to establish a theatre institute for the community.
She further said that the participants are being imparted theatre training by Sumankumar of NSD, New Delhi.
Thanil further said that a play based on the history, culture and tradition of Tangkhul community will be staged on the last day of the workshop, ie June 15.The dialogues of the play are spoken in both Tangkhul and Manipuri.
The same play will be shown in different parts of the State as well in New Delhi, Thanil added.
The workshop organised under the extension programme of National School of Drama, New Delhi is being hosted by Zingko Art and Film Centre, Tungou village.
