Five kids rescued from Nashik school

Five children from the State who were taken to Nashik, Maharashtra with a promise of free education have been rescued by Social Welfare Department following reports of ill-treatment by the school authority.
The children who have been rescued by Social Welfare Department belong to Kakching district (two), Imphal West district (two) and Bishnupur district (one), according to an official of Social Welfare Department.
The five children were taken to Nashik sometime back with a promise of providing them free education at Shri Shwami Narayan English Medium School.
However, the parents filed complaints with the Social Welfare Dept saying that their children were being subjected to ill- treatment.
Immediately, the State Social Welfare Dept contacted the Commissioner of Social Welfare Dept, Maharashtra.
Subsequently, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Nashik rescued the five children from the particular school.
Of the five rescued children, one bears the mark of injury made with an air gun on the face, said the official.
It has been learnt that other children from Manipur were taken to Shri Shwami Narayan English Medium School, Nashik.
The Social Welfare Dept has requested the Social Welfare Dept of Maharash-tra to look into the case and provide details of the other children who are yet to be rescued, the official added.
