Landslide-prone Chingkakpi river hillslopes surveyed

Imphal, June 07 2025: Officials of Flood Control Thoubal Division of Water Resources Department surveyed landslide zones of the Chingkakpi River flowing between two hills in the border of Wangjng-Tentha and Kakching assembly constituencies.

The survey was carried out under the initiative of Wangjng-Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen on Saturday, a statement of MLA's PRO Jayadev said adding that the survey was conducted to find out a permanent solution to frequent landslides in the hill portions of the river, which suffers landslide whenever rain comes.

Due to landslides in the area, frequent flood occurs at Tekcham Loukol, Sapam Loukol and Tentha Loukol, thereby inundating many houses, fish farms and paddy fields.

The local MLA has been working hard to find out a permanent solution and accordingly conducted the survey on Saturday by officials concerned along with local leaders, the statement added.
