Mishaps claim four

Imphal, June 05 2014:
At least four persons have been killed while six others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents which took place in Bishnupur district.
Two male pedestrians were killed when they were knocked down by a Tata Winger at Ithai Laikhong Mayai Leikai under at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
The deceased have been identified as Kangjam Tomba (60) s/o late Angou of Ithai Laikhong Mayai Leikai and Leishangthem Damu (60) s/o late Leibak of Wangoo Napaching.
Their bodies have been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS post mortem at RIMS today even as a case has been registered at Kumbi police station.
On the other hand, two persons have been killed while many others sustained injuries when a car (Maruti Swift) rammed into an auto-rickshaw at Nachou Panthong along Imphal-Churachandpur road at around 7 am today.
The ill-fated passenger auto-rickshaw was heading for Ningthoukhong from Bishnupur.
The car was travelling in the opposite direction.
While one Nongmaithem Shyamkanhai (35) s/o Totokhong of Nachou Maning Leikai was killed on the spot, another unidentified passenger succumbed to the injuries at Shija Hospital.
Altogether six people including those travelling in the car were taken to RIMS.
Bishnupur Police have taken up a case on the matter.
