Imphal, December 03 2008: Spreading awareness on children's rights and to help improve the fate of deprived children as well as to build bridges between India's Northeast and Germany, five German students, who called themselves 'Karmariders' and are on a cycle expedition of the entire Northeastern States since October 12 arrived at Maram in Senapati district of Manipur today morning.

The five German students who are undertaking the expedition being organised under the joint sponsorship of the Germany-based ChildAid Network and Don Bosco Society, Northeast India are M Schuppen, K Meyer, C Dominik, O Schrenk and N Peterson.

After cycling the lenght and breadth of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, the Karmariders reached Maram at around 11 am today.

From Maram, they would be coming to Imphal tomorrow.

On their arrival at Maram today, the Karmariders were accorded warm welcome by the fathers, sisters, faculty members and students of Don Bosco College, Maram.

Afterward, the Karmariders interacted with the students of the college on various issues.

Later during the day, the villagers of Maram Khullen also hosted a reception function in honour of the five German students.

When they arrived at Imphal tomorrow, a reception function would also be hosted by the Chingmeirong Don Bosco Society, Imphal and after staying the night at Imphal, they would leave for the next destination on December 5 .

Upto to the Imphal leg of their cycling expedition, the Karmariders would have covered 2500 kms.
