Menstrual Hygiene message taken to relief camp

The Directorate of Health Services and the State Health Society, National Health Mission (NHM) organised Menstrual Hygiene Day at the relief camp set up inside the complex of Biramangol College at Sawombung today.
The observance was held under the theme "Together for a period friendly world" to break myths/misconceptions around menstruation.
Dr Somorjit Ningombam, State Mission Director of NHM; Dr L Indira, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Imphal East; Dr Jubilee Wahengbam, State Nodal Officer (SNO) RKSK; Dr Bedana, RKSK/AH District Nodal Officer (DNO) Imphal East; Biren Kumar and convenor of Biramangol Relief Camp graced the function as presidium members As part of the programme, a health camp was also conducted for women, girls and children by a group of Imphal East doctors and nurses.
Altogether 92 women and adolescent girls attended the programme and health check up facility and medicines were provided to over 50 of them.
A talk on menstrual hygiene and importance of personal hygiene was also held.
The programme concluded with a distribution of sanitary napkins and stationery items to the adolescents and children.
The same programme "Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHD)" was also observed at Takyel Khongbal, Mayang Langjing and Sekmai by the district RKSK teams.
