Imphal, April 17:
Like past years, All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), in connection with Sajibu Cheiraoba, presented gifts to the menfolk of Charoi Chagotlong and Charoi Pandongba villages of Tamenglong and Senapati districts.
The programme entitled Sajibu Khudol Tamba Eegi Khongul Leeba was organised at Tupul Bazar today with AMESCO president LS Guite, village elders Mangoljao, Paorunga and social worker Tomba Kabui presiding over the function.
AMESCO presented one half lamp each to village chairmen of Charoi Chagotlong and Charoi Pandongba.
Keeping the tradition alive, Meitei women/daughetrs presented a khudei and a vest each to some villagers of these two villages in connection with the auspicious occasion while their Zeliangrong brothers received the gifts with best wishes of long and prosperous lives to their valley sisters/daughters.
Speaking on the occasion, AMESCO president LS Guite appealed various communities of the State for a peaceful co-existence leaving behind the sense of having different religion and language.
The main aim of organising the programme is to remind that Mongoloid people living in the State are from the same ancestry, he added.
Guite said that since past many centuries, Meiteis and Zeliangrong people are living together in the valley without any problem.
Same relation is also maintained at Jiri and Silchar, he added.
Maintaining that Manipur is a very small State, he asked why we should break this State into pieces on the lines of religion and community.
The people of the State should bring unity and work together for cordial and brotherly relations, he added.
He also reaffirmed that AMESCO would try their best to bring unity in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, AMESCO secretary general S Nando while narrating the tradition of Sajibu Cheiraoba, emphasised on the need of keeping the cultures and traditions of every community of the State alive.
Nando said different tribes of the State and Meiteis are the descendants of same forefathers.
He added, that is the reason why Meitei women/daughters should also present gift to their hill brothers on this auspicious occasion.
He also appealed the gathering to live together and march forward together to bring a developed Manipur.
