Imphal, May 15 2019: In a development which can rock the foundation of the present N Biren Singh led BJP coalition Government, the Naga Peoples' Front (NPF) is set decide whether it should continue to stay in the coalition or pull out completely.

It may be mentioned that four NPF MLAs are supporting the BJP led Government and one of the MLAs, Loshii Dikho who won from Mao AC, is even a Cabinet Minister in charge of PHED.

On the other hand, the cracks developing between National Peoples' Party (NPP) and the BJP due to many differences, is also raising questions about the fate of the present Government.

The Northeast Live reports that the Naga People's Front, a constituent of the coalition in Manipur, may soon pull out of the alliance, a development that could jolt the Biren Singh-led Government in the State.

NPF leader told Northeast Live that the party is not happy with the treatment meted out to its legislators by the BJP leadership in Manipur.

Talking exclusively to Northeast Live after a meeting, NPF spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon said that the party could reconsider its alliance with the BJP as the NPF legislators in Manipur were not given desired treatment by BJP.

The NPF spokesperson maintained that his party had extended unconditional support to the BJP for the sake of ensuring a stable Government to expedite the decades long Naga issue.

A decision on whether the NPF should continue to sup with the BJP in the coalition Government or not will be decided after a high leverl meeting to be attended by the party's leaders and the MLAs.

Talking on the latest development, State unit president of NPF, Awanbow Newmai told The Sangai Express that a definite decision will be taken after minutely considering all the the BJP's views towards the NPF as a partner.

Stating that NPF is not pleased with the treatment by the State BJP leadership, Newmai continued that failure to recognise the contributions of the NPF towards the development of the State is immensely disappointing.

NPF has no specific demands from the BJP, he said stating that failure to recognise a partner and respect the said party, is a complete disregard of the alliance between the two.

On the other hand, another source from NPF stated that the party is deeply concerned with the assurance made by BJP Central leaders that CAB will be implemented if the BJP comes back to power.

The party (NPF) has already made it clear that CAB cannot be implemented in the NE region in any way and the party will always stand against it, the source added.

It may be mentioned that the present BJP led coalition Government is made up of 21 BJP MLAs, 4 from NPP, another 4 from NPF, 1 from LJP, 1 from AITC and 1 Independent.

The Government is also unofficially supported by 8 MLAs who defected from the INC.
