Chief Justice visits Ukhrul

Ukhrul, May 04 2024: Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court Siddharth Mridul has categorically stated that every person should be given access to justice.

He made the statement while visiting Ukhrul Town today.

The Chief Justice first visited the construction site of the District and Session Court at Rayotang, Ukhrul.

It might be mentioned that the foundation stone of the District and Sessions Court complex was laid by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in February 2015 .

The completion of the project, however, has been delayed due to land encroachment issues coupled with the prevailing situation in the State.

Siddharth Mridul said that the construction of the Court complex should not be delayed anymore and the project must be continued as per the layout in the available land.

Chief Justice visits Ukhrul

Meanwhile the visiting Chief Justice and his team held a brief media interaction programme at Ukhrul DC's office chamber wherein he expressed that the main purpose of the Judiciary team visit to Ukhrul is to ensure all people in Ukhrul district get access to justice at their door steps.

He also said that construction of the Court complex must be completed first for all District Judge, CJM, JMFC & Consumer Court Judges to station in the district and enhance the justice delivery system.

The Chief Justice also assured that the Court complex will be renovated.

Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul further expressed that he was elated on seeing the beauty of the Ukhrul town and the ravines running through the mountainous ranges.

Meanwhile, the Ukhrul District Bar Association (UDBA) highlighted the problems they have been facing in taking up legal processes in the district to the visiting team.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by a host of Judiciary officers including Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Registrar General Yumkham Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Ukhrul Binny Ngangom, Registrar (Judicial) Ojesh Mutum, member secretary of MASLSA Alek Muivah, and the president of UDBA.

Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla hosted a warm reception programme for the visiting team in her office chamber at Mini Secretariat Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
