Imphal, August 01 2024: At least three resolutions to restore normalcy in Jiribam were adopted during a meeting of representatives of Meetei and Hmar communities of Jiribam held at Group Centre CRPF at Dayapur, Cachar in Assam.

The resolutions taken were to make full efforts by both Meeteis and Hmar people to bring normalcy and prevent incidents of arson and firing and to cooperate with the security forces operating in Jiribam, as per a joint statement issued by different Meetei and Hmar organisations viz JDO; AJUCA; IPSA; HERI-COUN, Jiribam; LEE- CHING, HNU; Hmar Inpui; MPC and PTC.

It also said that both Meeteis and Hmar people agreed to facilitate controlled and coordinated movement.

The meeting was presided by Jiribam DC in which Senior SP, DIG of Assam Rifles, Commandant of 39 Assam Rifles and Commandant of 87 Bn CRPF were present.

Representatives of Paite, Thadou and Mizo of Jiribam also attended the meeting.

The statement said that the next meeting will be held after August 15 .

Violence gripped Jiribam in June after a Meitei man was killed.
