Former Minister Samuel Jendai who was elected from Tamenglong AC several times, Dr N Dwijamani who contested the State Assembly election earlier on BJP ticket from Uripok AC and TP Daining, former general secretary of Manipur Naga Youth Organisation have joined the Indian National Congress.
A reception function was held at the Congress Bhavan here in their honour.
CLP leader O Ibobi, MPCC president K Meghachandra, Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit, AICC's CWC member Gaikhangam and Congress party's chief whip Th Lokeshwar attended the reception function, among others.
Speaking at the function, O Ibobi said that former Minister Samuel Jendai's return to the fold of the Congress party is a home-coming.
Samuel Jendai's return would strengthen the Congress party, he said.
Saying that the Congress party took momentous roles in the freedom struggle of India, Ibobi went on to claim that the history of India is synonymous with the history of the Congress party.
While BJP has been indulging in intensive and baseless propaganda against the Congress party, the people of India and Manipur are fed up of their propaganda, he said.
Many well known political figures and intellectuals have opined that there would be a big change in India after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, and their observation would certainly come true, Ibobi said.
Notably, Samuel Jendai was a member of the National Council of Janata Dal (United) before he re-joined Congress party.
He conveyed gratitude to the Congress leaders for giving him an opportunity to come back to the party.
Saying that Congress party's ideology is based on secularism, non-violence and public welfare, Dr N Dwijamani said that he would uphold the party's ideology.
